QUALITY CONTROL OF RECOVERED PAPERS AND BOARDS
CTP is involved in a large programme aimed at elaborating a comprehensive strategy for QUALITY CONTROL OF RECOVERED PAPERS AND BOARDS.
It began some years ago with the development of tools for sampling: a core drilling device, an automatic pulping and screening device, as well as a procedure to evaluate the humidity and contaminant content of paper bales.
The on-going activity deals with:
The development of a system and of a data-base for characterisation of the volatile compounds (VC) in recovered paper bales.
The feasibility study of visual control automation criteria of recovered paper bales for the quantification of contraries and to try to determine the types of raw materials according to the EN643 standard: European List of Standard Grades of Recovered Paper and Board.
The development for deinking grades, of an image analysis technique to assess the newsprint/magazine ratio. The first prototype is presently running on the pulper feeding conveyor in a mill.
